Blowerproof Paint-on

Blowerproof is a BBA approved paint on airtight coating and is ideal for any permanent solution in achieving your buildings airtightness. This product is widely used in Europe in passive houses.
It is easy to apply and because of its durability and efficiency it has become the product of choice in all passive building in Belgium

Application of Paint-on

  1. BLOWERPROOF LIQUID BRUSH is ready-to-use; stir before use. Do not dilute with water or solvents.
  2. Apply with a flat paintbrush, suitable for water-based paints. Apply in two layers, the second layer after complete drying of the first layer. Total advised indicative consumption: 0.5 - 1 kg/m².
  3. Clean paint brush and other tools with water.
  4. During drying avoid contact with any type of water, liquids or other construction products.
  5. Complete drying is required prior to applying another product on BLOWERPROOF LIQUID BRUSH (such as plaster).
  6. Drying time may vary and depends on local conditions and condition of the substrate. Indicative: 24 - 48 hours.
  7. For large applications we recommend BLOWERPROOF LIQUID SPRAY applied with an airless paint spray machine.

Spray-on Airtightness Solutions

Blowerproof Spray-on

BBA approved BLOWERPROOF LIQUID airtight coating is spray applied with an airless paintspray machine. This product is mainly recommended on large projects.

  3. Entire walls
  4. Wall/wall connections
  5. Vertical and horizontal joints

Application of Spray-on

  1. BLOWERPROOF LIQUID SPRAY is ready-to-use; mix with hand mixer before application. Do not dilute with water or solvents.
  2. Apply with an airless paint spray device.
  3. Cleaning airless device: with water.
  4. Apply BLOWERPROOF LIQUID SPRAY in two layers, at a total consumption of 0.5 - 1 kg/m².
  5. Complete drying is requested prior to applying another product on BLOWERPROOF LIQUID SPRAY (such as plaster). Drying time may vary and depends on local conditions and condition of the substrate. Indicative: 24 - 48 hours.

Floor to wall junction

Paint-on or spray apply BBA approved BLOWERPROOF coating for the permanent airtightness of the floor to wall junctions.

For private houses and small scale projects; The floor to wall junctions on all floorlevels need to be made airtight. Apply Blowerproof coating before the floor insulation and screed is done, and before the inside wall finish is applied.

For larger scale projects:

Wall to ceiling junction

Paint-on or spray apply BBA approved BLOWERPROOF coating for the permanent airtightness of the wall to ceiling junctions.

For private houses and small scale projects.
The wall to ceiling junctions on all floorlevels along the outer skin of a house or building need to be made airtight. Apply on the inside, before the wall finish is applied.

For larger scale projects

Floor to wall junction

Paint-on or spray apply BBA approved BLOWERPROOF coating for the permanent airtightness of the floor to wall junctions.

Application

  1. Fill gaps between the window frame and the wall with PU foam and cut off excess
  2. Apply protection tape on the profiles at about 5mm from the side
  3. Brush on Blowerproof Liquid Brush
  4. Remove tape immediately after application

Pipe penetrations gaps

Penetration gaps must be made airtight in order to obtain an airtight house or building. Sealing is simple with BBA approved Blowerproof coating.

Application method

  1. Ensure dustfree surface
  2. Fill gaps greater than 5mm with polyurethane foam (trim after drying) or use a cement based fast setting mortar
  3. Apply Blowerproof Liquid Brush in two coats
  4. Check for full coverage


Walls

Application method Paint:

  1. Ensure dustfree surface and remove loose parts.
  2. Close gaps > 5mm with a cementbased gap filling mortar.
  3. Brush apply Blowerproof Liquid Brush

Application method Spray:

  1. Ensure dustfree surface and remove loose parts.
  2. Close gaps > 2mm with a cementbased gap filling mortar.
  3. Spray apply Blowerproof Liquid

Air tightness test - Enniskerry, Co Wicklow

  • Here we have an air tightness test before renovations (26.04 m3 / hr.m2) and after (4.08 m3 / hr.m2) this house was sprayed with E:Zero spray foam by U Value Spray Foam Insulation in Enniskerry Co Wicklow.

  • Now the client has a warm draught free air tight house and also fitted a Heat Recovery System and is ready for the winters ahead.

  • Prior to spraying the roof a breathable ventilation card was fitted to allow the timbers to breathe as per building regulations.
